Make it Simple, but significant.

Don’t worry about living up to Instagram perfection. Create a home that reflects the best version of yourself.

The truth is I have lots of fears and worries like anyone else. Most of my worries are about the future, my family and leftover teen angst about body image. One thing I definitely do not worry about is whether I can learn how to do something. Hence, my love for DIY. It may not go according to plan, but it always gets done somehow. I usually have to learn a thing or two along the way. I fail my way forward. Isn’t that how every single accomplishment gets achieved anyways?

Michael Jordan, my childhood hero, said:

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

-Michael Jordan

I took this to heart as a kid. I believed, deep down in my soul, that you just keep trying. One day, it will work out. Something will click. That proverbial light bulb will go off. For me, DIY is my safe space. The place where I get to try, fail, try again. And eventually achieve what I set out to do.

My hope is that I either learn from you or encourage you to do the same. Keep trying, keep failing and figuring it out. Together, we will build (and style) a home where everyone is welcome and loved. And on a budget.

Make it simple, but significant.
